UAE PDPL

The UAE PDPL is Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data, the United Arab Emirates’ federal law on how personal data is processed.

What it covers

According to the UAE government portal, it applies to personal data processed wholly or partly by electronic systems, inside or outside the country. Its starting point is that personal data is not processed without the consent of the person it belongs to; it gives that person the right to have inaccurate data corrected, and it sets requirements for transferring and sharing data across borders. The UAE Data Office is named as the federal regulator.

Some free zones have their own data protection law; the Dubai International Financial Centre’s is DIFC Law No. 5 of 2020. A hotel first checks which text applies where it operates.

Where to read about Wizorks

This entry explains the law; it is not a statement about Wizorks. What Wizorks publishes is on its security page (servers in Frankfurt, inside the EU), its legal page (the main providers, and the data processing agreement on request) and its privacy policy.
