Revenue leakage
Revenue leakage is the booking value a hotel loses after a guest has already asked to stay: the enquiry was never answered, answered too late, never followed up, or dropped after the price was sent.
How a hotel measures it
Start from the enquiries, not the bookings. Every message, call and form that asked about a stay is demand the hotel already had; the ones that ended without a reservation are the leak. For each one, record why it stopped. Four causes cover most of them: nobody replied, the reply came after the guest had moved on, nobody wrote again when the guest went quiet, or the guest stopped answering once they had the price.
Put a value on the leak only as an estimate, such as what a comparable booking at that property is usually worth, and keep it apart from the revenue you actually booked. A leak counted as if it were cash in the bank starts the wrong argument at the owners’ meeting.
Where Wizorks shows it
In the dashboard, Insights › Lost opportunities sorts booking requests by where they stalled (No reply, Reply too late, Follow-up missing, Lost after an offer), counts the ones not classified yet, and lists the ones worth a follow-up. Revenue & ROI prints an estimated lost value beside your booked value, labelled as an estimate and never added to your return.
