Direct booking ratio

The direct booking ratio is the share of a hotel’s bookings, or of its room revenue, that arrived through the hotel’s own channels rather than through an online travel agency or another intermediary.

How to calculate it

Divide direct bookings by all bookings for the same period, and do it twice: once by count and once by room revenue. A hotel can win many short direct stays and still give away its longest and most valuable ones.

Decide in writing what counts as direct (the website’s booking engine, the phone, e-mail, WhatsApp, walk-ins) and keep that definition fixed, or the ratio will move because the counting changed. The numbers come from the source or channel field in your PMS, so check that the desk fills it in for phone and e-mail bookings too.

Where Wizorks fits

A booking that Sarah takes on your WhatsApp, on your phone line or in the chat on your website is a direct booking; with the PMS link, it is written back to your PMS once it is confirmed. Revenue & ROI shows which channel each of those bookings came from. It does not calculate your hotel’s overall ratio, which needs every booking in your PMS.

Watch it answer a real enquiry from your property.

Thirty minutes on a call, with your own channels and rates on the screen, and no contract at the end of it.
